You have a website, but nobody looks after it?

Every month we get a few calls of the same kind: the website works, but nobody looks after it any more. The freelancer changed jobs, the agency folded, or dealing with the old developer is so exhausting that you would rather not touch the site. Meanwhile updates pile up, the contact form may have stopped sending, and nobody notices.

Taking over a website is a routine process for us. You do not need a new site and you do not need to change hosting. We need access, one week and your decision.

When a takeover makes sense

• The old developer does not reply or has closed down.
• Every small change takes weeks or costs a disproportionate amount.
• The site has not been updated for more than six months. With WordPress this is a security risk.
• You do not know where the site is hosted, who has access and when the domain expires.
• The site is fine, but you want one contact for the technical side, hosting and changes.

How the takeover works

• 1. You send us the address. Within one working day we do a free technical check: system and versions, security, speed, forms, hosting.
• 2. You receive an assessment and a frank proposal: takeover into maintenance, urgent fixes before takeover, or, rarely, a redesign because repair would not pay off.
• 3. We sort out access: hosting, domain, CMS, email, Google tools. We document everything and hand you the list, so that you own the access.
• 4. The first week: backup, updates, fixing urgent errors. Then the regular monthly tasks of the chosen package begin.

What we need from you

Less than you think. If something is missing, we help you obtain or recover access.

• Access to hosting, or at least the provider's name (cPanel, Plesk, FTP).
• Access to the site administration (WordPress or another system).
• Where the domain is registered.
• The old developer's contact, if you have it. It is not essential.

Tip: If you do not have access, it can usually be recovered through the hosting provider or domain registrar, because the contract is in your company's name. We help with this.

If the old developer does not cooperate

This happens more often than we would like, and it is not an obstacle. The domain and hosting are usually tied to your company, so you can recover access directly from the provider. If the site is hosted on the developer's own server, we move it to hosting of your choice or to ours. For a custom-built site without access to the source code, we assess whether it can be moved or whether a redesign makes more sense. Either way, we tell you before the takeover, not after.

WordPress, Joomla, custom-built or Wix?

• WordPress: the most common takeover. Core, theme and plugin updates, security, speed, backups.
• Joomla, Drupal and custom PHP sites: taken over after a technical check.
• Wix, Squarespace, Shopify: closed platforms are maintained by the provider. We help with content, SEO and migration if you want it.
• Sites on an outdated system without updates: we suggest moving to our BlocCMS or a redesign.

Hosting and domain

You do not need to change hosting. But if it is slow, expensive or no longer manageable, we move the site to our hosting. The domain is always registered in your company's name, never ours.
