Challenge

Spletiva.si is our own project. The starting point was a simple observation from practice: Slovenian web directories tend to be full of abandoned entries, duplicated data and sites that have not existed for years. For a visitor that means wasted time, and for a business an entry that serves nobody.

We wanted a directory where a profile means something: that somebody who genuinely controls the domain stands behind it, and that the details are current. That takes more than a submission form — it takes verification.

Goal: A directory of verified, up-to-date website and online store profiles where domain ownership is confirmed by the owner.

Solution

Every listing goes through domain ownership verification, so a profile cannot be created for somebody else's site. Owners submit their site free of charge and we review it, as a rule, within one working day.

Listings are organised by line of business and across the twelve Slovenian regions, with online stores highlighted separately — so a visitor quickly finds a provider nearby or within their industry.

Account holders manage their own profiles: details, description and categories are updated without an editor in the middle, which is the prerequisite for the directory staying current.

Result

The portal is live and accepting submissions. Because every profile is tied to a verified domain, the directory does not grow on empty entries — it grows more slowly, but with sites that genuinely exist and have somebody looking after them.

For us it also serves as a development reference: it shows that alongside brochure websites we build portals with user accounts, verification and content maintained by users themselves.
